The Day I Doubted My Blog

A few days ago I found this great blog post by Heather Reese on her blog It’s a Lovely Life called 5 Ways We Can All Stop Those Unhelpful Mom Debates Right Now. I loved it! I can relate in being judged and have felt I may have been judgmental in my own ways during the last 5 years of being a mom. I would like to let others know my opinion, not force my own upon anyone!

I started thinking about how my blog might come across. The title alone is enough to make me nervous now regarding this.  I would hate for anyone to think I am judging just by seeing it. The way God intended is referencing the way I believe He intended humanity to live. Meaning as natural as possible in day-to-day life. That He created women’s bodies to have children. That He created everything we need to live and survive already in natural forms to find here on our planet. And so many other aspects. And that is just the start…my About page plainly states it, but I will state it again: This is an informational blog to be used as a resource for others who are interested or have questions about natural living—basically, it is our experiences and “results” from our choice to live as naturally as possible.

To be clear, we understand that not everyone will agree and that these lifestyle choices are not always a viable option. There is a time and place for intervention, hospitals, doctors, western medicine and all that territory. I believe God gave us all those too. They are not to be disclaimed. They are just not our first choice. If we can find a natural way to do it (i.e. homeopathic, herbal, holistic, etc.) we will try that route first.

Here is a list of many things we have had the privilege to have done or be a part of regarding natural living.

Pregnancies, Birth and Children: prenatal care with a midwife through a birthing center for all pregnancies; midwife assisted home births, all water births; prenatal and pediatric chiropractic; breastfeeding; baby-wearing; cloth diapering (only our youngest); amber teething necklaces.

Health, Supplements and Medical: essential oils; herbal teas; herbal tinctures; natural antibiotics (colloidal silver, coconut oil, honey, etc.); natural healing and immunity support and function from food (lemons, herbs, garlic, apple cider vinegar, cranberries; oat, fennugreek, nuts and so on for lactation); homeopathic first aids; homemade tooth powder; homemade yogurt (pro-biotic digestion).

Other aspects that I have blogged about are resources that I also want to share my experiences with and include: Travel; sleep and co-sleep; getting involved in local activities (libraries and fall festivals); and I will hopefully soon post some blogs about our new adventures in Homeschooling….stay tuned!

My Resources and Networking page also has about six different links to people, places or products that I have had the privilege of interacting with. Check them out, too.

What about you? Had any experiences with judgmental people? Or any experience with natural living? I would love to hear any thoughts!

Traveling With The Babies!!

Traveling With The Babies!!

TravelingWithTheBabies

So.  We just got to Phoenix this past evening.  Now that the kids are 2 1/2 and 15 months old, it’s different from it was before.  Gone are the blissful days when they would fall asleep in my arms under the nursing cover or in Daddy’s arms with the bottle of expressed milk.  Now are the days of “Make sure we have the iPad to occupy her!”  and vigorous bouncing and singing our son to see the sand man.  Wow….but there is some good news.  We have found good resources to help with traveling with the babies and how to make it more manageable.  Here’s what I’ve found:

There is a great site called http://www.travelmamas.com that has some great resources and even a stellar packing list for babies and toddlers.  These lists include packing for all ages as well as for on planes, in cars and making a specific travel kit for illnesses, etc.  Very handy!!!  I highly recommend this site.

Also http://havebabywilltravel.com has an extensive Mother of All Packing Lists!  This site includes info about travel and sleep and feeding baby while traveling.  There’s also some articles for car reviews and car seat policies being updated.  Also very handy!!

This site Mom’sBestUmbrellaStrollersReview.com has this post Top 10 Baby Items List When Traveling With Baby which is filled with all the most basic needs to remember.  The blog’s owner, Grace Wilson, has also done all the research for the best umbrella strollers on the market.  Stop by and take a stroll through her site.

There are many, many others about traveling with babies to be had so don’t stop there!  Hope this helps!
